Why your sofa needs more than a wipe down
Furniture can look clean on the surface and still hold allergens, body oils, pet hair and residue deep in the fabric. A sofa gets used every day, so that build-up settles in quickly and starts to show on the arms, seat fronts and headrests.
Our upholstery cleaning lifts what is trapped beneath the surface and leaves fabrics noticeably brighter and fresher. We explain what we are doing before we start, so you know exactly what to expect, and we never rush a job to get to the next one.
What we clean
We clean sofas of every size, armchairs, dining chairs, footstools, ottomans and upholstered headboards. We work with a wide range of fabrics, including delicate materials such as velvet, wool, silk and linen, and we can also clean leather. We adjust the method to suit each fabric, so it gets a deep clean without putting the finish at risk.
On a sofa we clean every cushion, front and back, plus the whole base. If you are not sure what your furniture is made of, tell us when you book and we will advise. We can also clean other soft furnishings, and the cleaning is always done in your home, which saves you the hassle of taking anything to a cleaning company. Agitated, not just sprayed
Plenty of cleaners spray a solution on and suck it back up. We do more than that. Every piece is pre-vacuumed, pre-sprayed with a conditioning solution that starts breaking down grime and stubborn stains straight away, and spot treated. We then work the solution into the fibres with an upholstery brush so it reaches the dirt that sits deep in the fabric.
Next we steam clean with hot water extraction at 120°C, using our Power-Flex Storm 800psi machine. The heat and pressure flush out embedded dirt, allergens and cleaning solution together, and kill dust mites and bacteria in the fabric, leaving your furniture sanitised and fresh. Stain treatment and deodoriser come as standard.
We use eco-friendly products wherever possible, so your home is left fresh without harsh smells or unnecessary residue. Our cleaning agents are free from harsh or caustic chemicals, so they are safe with children and pets, and we are Woolsafe approved.
Professional or DIY upholstery cleaning?
DIY products are fine for a quick touch-up, but they often struggle with older stains, pet odours and heavy daily use. Some off-the-shelf sprays contain strong ingredients that do not suit every fabric and can cause fading or patchy results. It is also easy to use too much water at home, and moisture that is not extracted properly leaves fabric slow to dry, flat or with a damp smell.
Professional extraction removes far more of what is trapped in the fibres:
- Better results on set-in stains and heavy soiling
- Fresher fabric, because odours are tackled in the fibres
- Fewer allergens and less residue left behind
- Safer care for velvet, wool, silk and leather
- Faster drying and fewer damp smells
Drying and protection
Drying time depends on the fabric and how heavily soiled it was. Hot water extraction leaves far less moisture behind than most DIY methods, and we bring a turbo dryer fan to speed things up if needed. We will tell you before we leave when the furniture is ready to use.
To keep upholstery cleaner for longer, we highly recommend adding a soil protector such as Scotchgard after cleaning. It forms a protective barrier that helps fabric repel spills and stains, so marks are easier to deal with and you do not need to clean as often. Scotchgard for a sofa costs roughly £70 to £80, depending on the size of the sofa.
Upholstery and carpets on the same visit
Many customers book upholstery and carpet cleaning together for a fuller refresh of the home. We bring the same equipment for both, so it makes the most of one visit. Our minimum charge of £110 covers bringing and setting up the equipment, so adding an armchair or a rug to a sofa clean is good value.

How much does sofa cleaning cost?

How often should upholstery be professionally cleaned?
Most homes benefit from a clean every 12 to 18 months. Homes with pets or young children may need it more often to keep on top of stains and smells. Regular cleaning helps furniture last longer and stops build-up settling deeper into the fabric.
Can you remove pet odours and older stains?
Yes. We treat pet odours and stains by cleaning into the fibres where the problem sits, and deodoriser is included as standard. Steam extraction at 120°C also kills bacteria in the fabric, which is often the source of a lingering smell. Results depend on the fabric and how long a stain has been there, but we always aim for the best possible outcome and will be honest about what to expect.
Do you clean delicate fabrics and leather sofas?
Yes. We clean velvet, wool, silk and linen as well as leather sofas and chairs, and we adjust the method to protect each finish while still getting a deep clean. If you are not sure what your furniture is made of, we can advise when you book.
How long does a sofa take to dry after cleaning?
