Surrey Hills Cleaning is a local carpet and upholstery cleaning company run by John from our base in Oxshott, a straightforward drive east of Woking past Cobham and Byfleet. We work in homes right across the town and its neighbouring areas: Woking itself, Horsell, Knaphill, Goldsworth Park and Pyrford, plus Byfleet and West Byfleet, which are only a few minutes from the town centre. Most people call us for one of three reasons: the carpets look dull however often they are hoovered, the sofa is showing everyday wear on the arms and seat fronts, or they simply want a cleaner they can rely on to turn up and do the job properly. Whichever it is, the process and the prices are the same.

We start with the fibre
Not every carpet should be cleaned the same way. Before we start, we check what your carpet is made of, whether that is wool, a wool blend, nylon, polypropylene or polyester, and adjust the products and approach to suit. We are Woolsafe approved, with a Woolsafe Registered Inspector, so natural carpets are in safe hands.
From there, every carpet goes through the same full clean. We pre-vacuum, apply a conditioning pre-spray and spot treat individual marks. Then comes the step that makes the difference: we agitate the solution into the pile with a brush so it reaches the dirt at the base of the fibres. Finally we rinse with hot water extraction at 120°C using our Power-Flex Storm 800psi machine, which lifts out the dirt and the solution together and kills dust mites and bacteria. The fibres are groomed for an even finish and faster drying. Stain treatment and deodoriser come as standard, and our cleaning agents are free from harsh or caustic chemicals.

How long it takes, and what to move
Carpets in a typical three-bedroom Woking home take around two to four hours to clean, depending on how many rooms are included and how soiled they are. We will give you a better idea when you book.
It helps if you move small items, ornaments and anything valuable before we arrive. We can usually work around heavier furniture. Afterwards, most carpets are dry within a few hours, depending on ventilation and the thickness of the pile, and we can bring a turbo dryer fan if you need the room back sooner. Keep the windows open if you can, wear clean socks rather than shoes if you have to cross the carpet, and wait until it is fully dry before putting furniture back.
Upholstery cleaning matched to the fabric
Sofas, armchairs and dining chairs collect body oils, crumbs, pet dander and dust that plumping the cushions will not shift. We look at each piece first, because cotton, linen, velvet, microfibre and synthetic blends all behave differently. Where the fabric suits it, we use hot water extraction at 120°C. Delicate fabrics get a gentler, low moisture method instead.
We are also used to stains that have been made worse by an earlier attempt to clean them, which is common with shop-bought sprays. We will tell you honestly what we expect to achieve before we start. Our sofa and upholstery cleaning is £110 for a two-seater, £130 for a three-seater and £140 for a four-seater, covering every cushion front and back and the whole base. Armchairs are £45. A Scotchgard protector for a sofa is roughly £70 to £80, depending on its size, and helps it resist the next spill.
Drying time depends on the fabric and how soiled it was. Hot water extraction leaves far less moisture behind than a hired machine, and we will tell you before we leave when the sofa is ready to sit on.
Pets, wool rugs and mattresses
Pet stains and odours need treating at the source rather than masking with fragrance. We treat each mark individually and work into the fibres where the smell sits, and we will talk you through what to expect depending on how long it has been there.
We also clean rugs from £50 depending on size, using pH neutral, Woolsafe approved solutions on wool, and mattresses from £40 for a single, £55 for a double and £65 for a king or queen.
