Flats and family homes: how long it takes
A two-bedroom flat typically takes one to two hours. A larger family house with several carpeted rooms and a staircase is more like three to five hours. Once we know a little about your home, we can give you a more specific idea.
One thing worth knowing if you live in a smaller flat: every job has a minimum charge of £110, which covers bringing and setting up the equipment. Rooms are £45 each, so if you only need a couple of rooms cleaned, adding the hallway, a sofa, an armchair or a rug costs little extra and makes the visit far better value.
Carpets are usually dry within a few hours. We groom the fibres to help them dry evenly and can bring a turbo dryer fan if you need the room back quickly.
Sofas and chairs, especially light ones
Sofas, armchairs and dining chairs collect body oils, pet hair, dander, food debris and dust, and that affects how fresh a room feels as well as how it looks. Light-coloured upholstery tends to show the most dramatic difference after a professional clean.
We assess each piece before we start. Hot water extraction suits sturdy synthetics and many natural fabrics, while delicate materials get a low moisture method, and specific stains get their own treatment. We clean leather too. We will always tell you honestly what we can achieve. Two-seater sofas are £110, three-seaters £130 and four-seaters £140, with every cushion cleaned front and back plus the whole base, and armchairs are £45.
To keep a freshly cleaned sofa looking that way, we recommend a soil protector such as Scotchgard, which helps the fabric repel spills so marks are easier to deal with. For a sofa it costs roughly £70 to £80, depending on size.
Rugs as well as fitted carpets
We clean wool, synthetic and natural fibre rugs, and each one is assessed on its own so we can choose the safest method for its fibre and construction. Wool is cleaned with pH neutral, Woolsafe approved solutions, and we are Woolsafe approved with a Woolsafe Registered Inspector. Rugs start from £50 depending on size, and they are a good thing to add to a carpet or sofa clean on the same visit.
Fringes are cleaned separately and the pile is groomed by hand. Thick wool and hand knotted rugs take longer to dry than synthetic flatweaves, typically somewhere between four and twelve hours, and we will give you guidance for your rug before we leave. A soil protector afterwards helps it shed dirt and go longer between cleans.
End of tenancy and one-off deep cleans
Surbiton has plenty of rented flats and houses, and a clean carpet goes a long way at inspection.
