Upholstery cleaning for Dorking homes

From cottages in the old town to family houses out towards Westcott and Holmwood, every Dorking home has furniture that works hard. Muddy walks on Box Hill, dogs on the cushions and everyday use all leave their trace, and a sofa that looks fine from across the room often tells a different story up close.

Surrey Hills Cleaning cleans sofas, armchairs, dining chairs, footstools, ottomans and upholstered headboards across RH4 and RH5. We come to you, set up in your home and clean everything where it stands, so there is no need to move furniture out or be without it for days.

Upholstery prices in Dorking

We keep pricing simple and fixed:

  • Two-seater sofa £110
  • Three-seater sofa £130
  • Four-seater sofa £140
  • Armchair £45

Each sofa price includes all the cushions, cleaned front and back, and the entire base. Scotchgard can be added for roughly £70 to £80 per sofa, depending on size. There is a £110 minimum charge for any job, which covers bringing and setting up our equipment, so it often makes sense to add a chair or two while we are there.

Why we brush before we extract

A cleaning solution that is sprayed on and immediately sucked off barely touches the dirt sitting deep in the weave. That is why every piece we clean is agitated, not just sprayed.

We start by vacuuming the seats, arms, backs and crevices, then apply a conditioning pre-spray and spot treat any marks. The solution is worked into the fibres with an upholstery brush. Only then do we rinse with hot water extraction at 120°C, using our Power-Flex Storm 800psi machine, which flushes out dirt, allergens and solution together and kills dust mites and bacteria. The fabric is groomed afterwards for an even finish. You do not pay extra for stain treatment or deodoriser: both come with every clean.

Care for leather and delicate upholstery

Not every sofa can be treated the same way. Velvet, wool, silk and linen need a gentler touch, and leather needs a different approach altogether. We clean all of these, adjusting the method so each piece gets a deep clean without any risk to its finish.

If you have an older or more valuable piece, or simply are not sure what it is covered in, tell us when you get in touch and we will advise. We would always rather explain what is realistic than overpromise.

Professional cleaning, drying and protection

Shop bought sprays are fine for a quick touch-up, but they rarely shift older stains or pet smells, and some contain ingredients that can fade or mark certain fabrics. Hired machines make it easy to put too much water in and too little back out, which leaves cushions flat, slow to dry or smelling damp.

Our extraction removes far more of what is trapped in the fabric, dries faster and leaves fewer allergens and less residue behind. Our cleaning agents are toxic and caustic-free and our products eco-friendly wherever possible, so the house is safe for children and pets as soon as the furniture is dry.

How long upholstery takes to dry depends on the fabric and how heavily soiled it was. Hot water extraction leaves much less moisture than most home methods, and we bring a turbo dryer fan to speed things along where needed. We will let you know before leaving when it is ready to use.

A soil protector such as Scotchgard is well worth considering, especially in a busy household. It helps the fabric repel spills so they are easier to deal with, and you can go longer between cleans.

Dining chairs, headboards and the pieces people forget

Sofas get most of the attention, but it is often the other furniture that needs help most. Fabric dining chairs collect food and drink spills from every meal, footstools and ottomans take muddy feet, and an upholstered headboard quietly absorbs hair products and skin oils night after night. We clean all of these with the same brush and extraction process, so they come up as fresh as the sofa.

Carrying furniture out to a workshop is a nuisance in any house, and more so with a cottage staircase or a tight hallway. Because our machine comes to you, nothing has to leave the room. Tell us what you would like doing when you call, and John will give you a clear price for the lot before the day.

FAQs

Upholstery cleaning in Dorking: FAQs

How much does it cost to clean a sofa in Dorking?

£110 for a two-seater, £130 for a three-seater and £140 for a four-seater, including every cushion front and back and the base. An armchair is £45. Any job carries a £110 minimum charge.

Is Scotchgard worth adding?

For most family sofas, yes. It helps fabric resist spills and stains, so you need to clean less often. Expect to pay roughly £70 to £80 a sofa, depending on how big it is.

Do you clean leather furniture?

Yes. We clean leather sofas and chairs as well as fabric upholstery, with the method adjusted to protect the leather.

Is velvet or linen upholstery too delicate to clean?

No. We regularly clean velvet, wool, silk and linen, and adapt the approach for each one so the fabric gets a thorough clean without harming the finish.

How regularly should I have my sofa cleaned?

For most Dorking households, once every year to eighteen months is about right. A home with dogs or small children will usually want it done sooner.

Do you cover Westcott, Holmwood and the other villages?

Yes. We cover Dorking and the surrounding villages, including Westcott, Wotton, Mickleham, Holmwood, Betchworth and Buckland.

Can you clean a mattress at the same time?
