A thorough upholstery clean, in your own home

The sofa takes more daily use than almost anything else in the house. Grubby arms, darker seat fronts and a headrest that has changed colour are all signs of body oils, dust and pet hair working their way into the fabric. Sprays and wipes deal with the surface, but what sits underneath stays put.

Surrey Hills Cleaning is based in Oxshott, a few miles up the road, and we clean upholstery throughout Bookham and KT23. Everything is done in your home, so there is no van trip to a workshop and no weeks without a sofa. We explain what we are going to do before we start and we take the time each piece needs.

What sofa cleaning costs in Bookham

Our upholstery prices are fixed and the same wherever you are in Bookham:

  • Two-seater sofa: £110
  • Three-seater sofa: £130
  • Four-seater sofa: £140
  • Armchair: £45

A sofa price covers every cushion, cleaned on both sides, and the whole base, not just the seats. Scotchgard protection for a sofa is roughly £70 to £80 extra, depending on its size. The minimum charge for any visit is £110, which pays for bringing and setting up the machine, so pairing a sofa with an armchair or two is good value.

Our six-step upholstery clean

Plenty of firms spray a solution on and suck it straight back up. Our process goes further:

  • Check the fabric. We look at what the piece is made of and where the marks are, then tell you what to expect.
  • Pre-vacuum. Seats, arms, backs and crevices are vacuumed to clear loose dirt and hair.
  • Pre-spray and spot treat. A conditioning solution starts loosening grime, and individual stains get their own treatment.
  • Brush it in. The solution is worked into the fibres with an upholstery brush so it reaches the dirt deep down.
  • Extract. Our Power-Flex Storm 800psi machine rinses the fabric with hot water at 120°C, flushing out soil and solution and killing dust mites and bacteria.
  • Groom and dry. We brush the pile so it sits evenly, and set up the turbo dryer fan where it will help.

Every job comes with stain treatment and a deodoriser at no extra cost.

Leather, velvet, linen and other delicate fabrics

Bookham homes have all sorts of furniture in them, from family corner sofas to the good armchair in the front room. We clean leather as well as delicate fabrics such as velvet, wool, silk and linen, and we adjust the method for each, so the fabric gets a deep clean without putting its finish at risk.

If you are unsure what a sofa is covered in, mention it when you book or show us on the day and we will advise. Dining chairs, footstools, ottomans and upholstered headboards can all be done on the same visit.

Pet hair, spills and family wear

Dogs that sleep on the sofa and children who eat on it leave their mark. Our cleaning agents are toxic and caustic-free and our products are eco-friendly wherever possible, so they are safe around children and pets, and the deodoriser we include helps with smells that have settled into the cushions. Hot water extraction also kills the bacteria that often cause a lingering odour.

We will always be honest about older stains. Results depend on the fabric and how long a mark has been there, but if you are not 100 per cent satisfied, we will re-clean it.

Drying time and Scotchgard protection

Because the machine extracts most of the water as it cleans, upholstery dries far faster than after a DIY attempt with a hired machine. Drying time still depends on the fabric and how dirty it was, and we bring a turbo dryer fan to help. Before we leave we will tell you when the sofa is ready to sit on.

We recommend a soil protector such as Scotchgard after the clean. It helps the fabric shed spills so they wipe away more easily, and it stretches the time before you need another clean.

Mattresses and carpets on the same visit

Many customers in Bookham add a bed or a room of carpet while we are there. A mattress clean starts from £40 for a single, and our carpet cleaning in Bookham is £45 a room. For Amtico or LVT floors, see Amtico cleaning in Bookham.

We are fully insured, Woolsafe approved with a Woolsafe Registered Inspector, and were named Best Carpet and Upholstery in Surrey in the SME News UK Enterprise Awards 2026. To book, ring John on 07584 551 784, use WhatsApp or ask for a call-back.

Why book a clean

What a deep upholstery clean gives you

Fewer allergens

Hot water extraction at 120°C kills dust mites and bacteria in the fabric.

Brighter fabric

Lifting the oils and dirt from arms, seat fronts and headrests brings the original colour back.

A fresher room

Odours are tackled in the fibres where they sit, with deodoriser included on every job.

Furniture that lasts

Grit wears fabric from the inside. Cleaning it out regularly helps a good sofa last longer.
