Upholstery cleaning for Esher and Elmbridge

Most sofas get cleaned far less often than the carpet beneath them, even though they are used every single day. Skin oils, spilt drinks, pet hair and dust all settle into the fabric, and over time the cushions start to look flat and a little grey, particularly where heads and hands rest. A wipe with a damp cloth does not reach any of that.

Surrey Hills Cleaning brings proper upholstery cleaning to homes across Esher and the KT10 area, including Claygate, Hinchley Wood and Claremont, as well as Hersham and Thames Ditton. We are based a few miles away in Oxshott, and every piece is cleaned in your home, so your furniture never leaves the room.

From dining chairs to leather suites

Our upholstery work covers sofas of all sizes, armchairs, dining chairs, footstools, ottomans and upholstered headboards. We are used to delicate fabrics such as velvet, silk, wool and linen, and we clean leather sofas and chairs too. Each one gets a method matched to the material so the clean goes deep while the finish stays safe.

If you have a mix of furniture, that is fine. Many Esher bookings are a sofa plus a pair of armchairs, or a full set of dining chairs before a family gathering. If you are unsure of a fabric, send John a photo of the care label when you book. Mattresses can be added too: see our mattress cleaning page.

The six steps behind every clean

We take time over every piece, and we explain what we are doing before we begin.

  • Check. We look at the fabric and any stains and talk you through what to expect.
  • Vacuum. Seats, backs, arms and the gaps between cushions are vacuumed thoroughly.
  • Pre-spray and spot treat. A conditioning solution starts breaking down grime, and individual marks get their own treatment.
  • Brush. An upholstery brush works the solution right into the weave, which is where the real dirt is.
  • Hot water extraction. At 120°C, our 800psi Power-Flex Storm machine flushes out soil, allergens and solution together, killing bacteria and dust mites as it goes.
  • Groom and dry. Fibres are groomed so the fabric looks even, and a turbo dryer fan speeds drying when needed.

Stain treatment and deodoriser are always included. Our cleaning agents are toxic and caustic-free and safe with children and pets.

Sofa and upholstery prices

  • Two-seater sofa£110
  • Three-seater sofa£130
  • Four-seater sofa£140

Clear, fixed prices across KT10

You will know the cost before we arrive:

  • Two-seater sofa: £110
  • Three-seater sofa: £130
  • Four-seater sofa: £140
  • Armchair: £45
  • Scotchgard for a sofa: roughly £70 to £80, depending on size

Any job has a minimum charge of £110, which covers bringing and setting up the equipment, so it makes sense to group items together. Lots of Esher customers add rooms of carpet at the same time: see carpet cleaning in Esher. If you have Amtico or LVT, ask about Amtico floor cleaning in Esher on the same visit.

Stains, pets and odours

Pets and young children are hard on a sofa. We treat stains individually before the main clean and work into the fibres where smells actually sit, and the 120°C rinse kills the bacteria that often cause an odour to linger. Fresh marks usually come out well. With older stains, results depend on the fabric and how long the mark has been there, and we will always be honest with you about what is realistic before we start.

For households with pets or little ones, a clean every 12 to 18 months, or a little more often, keeps on top of things and stops dirt working deeper into the fabric.

Drying, Scotchgard and aftercare

Because our machine extracts most of the moisture during the clean, sofas dry much faster than after a home machine or a hired carpet cleaner. Exact timings depend on the fabric and how heavily soiled it was, and we will tell you before we leave when it is fine to use.

A soil protector such as Scotchgard is well worth considering on a freshly cleaned sofa. It helps the fabric repel spills so they can be blotted up before they soak in, keeping the sofa cleaner for longer and stretching the time until the next clean.
