Carpet and upholstery cleaning for Twickenham homes

Twickenham has a bit of everything: Victorian and Edwardian terraces in St Margarets and around the town centre, larger family houses towards Strawberry Hill, and plenty of flats near the river. Whatever the home, the carpets take the same punishment. Hallways and stairs carry grit in from the street, lounges collect crumbs, pet hair and the odd spilt drink, and bedroom carpets slowly turn grey without anyone noticing.

Surrey Hills Cleaning cleans carpets, sofas and upholstery, rugs and mattresses in homes across Twickenham, Whitton, St Margarets and Strawberry Hill. Everything is cleaned in your home with professional, portable equipment, so there is nothing to carry anywhere. John runs the business and is your contact from the first call to the finished job.

How a Twickenham carpet clean works

Vacuuming only deals with the top of the pile. The dirt that makes a carpet look flat and tired sits much deeper, bonded to the fibres, and it needs loosening before it can be rinsed out. That is why every carpet we clean follows the same routine:

  • Pre-vacuum the whole area to lift dry soil and grit.
  • Pre-spray with a conditioning solution that starts breaking down grime, then spot treat individual marks and spills.
  • Agitate the solution into the pile with a brush, so it actually reaches the soil instead of sitting on top.
  • Rinse with hot water extraction at 120°C on our Power-Flex Storm 800psi machine, which flushes out the dirt and the cleaning solution together and kills dust mites and bacteria.
  • Groom the fibres for an even finish and quicker drying.

Stain treatment and deodoriser come as standard, so there are no extras added on the day. Our cleaning agents are free from harsh or caustic chemicals and eco-friendly, which means they are safe in homes with children and pets.

Drying times near the river

Homes close to the Thames can feel damper than those further from it, and that makes a difference to how quickly a freshly cleaned carpet dries. We take extra care with this in Twickenham. Hot water extraction pulls most of the moisture back out during the clean, and where a room needs a hand we set up our turbo dryer fan before we leave. Most carpets are dry within a few hours. Opening a window or keeping the heating ticking over helps too.

Once a carpet is dry, we recommend a soil protector or Scotchgard, particularly on light carpets, stairs and hallways. It helps the fibres shed spills and dirt, so marks are easier to deal with and you can go longer between cleans.

Sofas, armchairs and mattresses

Upholstery needs a different approach from carpet, and the first thing we do is look at what the furniture is made of. Polyester and microfibre sofas are hard wearing and respond well to hot water extraction. Cotton and linen need more care, and velvet and other delicate fabrics are cleaned with a gentler, lower moisture method so the finish is not put at risk. We clean leather too.

Food and drink spills, pet accidents and the body oils that build up on arms and headrests are pre-treated before the main clean, and every piece is worked over with an upholstery brush before extraction. On a sofa, every cushion is cleaned front and back, along with the whole base. Large corner and sectional sofas are no problem. Scotchgard for a sofa is roughly £70 to £80, depending on its size.

Plenty of Twickenham customers have a sofa and a mattress done on the same visit as the carpets, which makes good use of our £110 minimum charge.

Rugs, from hallway runners to Persian pieces

We clean rugs in your home, from modern synthetic and shaggy rugs to wool, Persian and other hand knotted pieces. Each rug is vacuumed to remove dry grit, pre-sprayed and spot treated, then agitated so the solution reaches the base of the pile. Synthetic rugs are rinsed with hot water extraction at 120°C. Wool is only cleaned with pH neutral, Woolsafe approved solutions, and delicate fibres and dyes get a low moisture method instead.

Rugs start from £50 depending on size. Send us a photo and the measurements and we will confirm the price, and adding a rug to a carpet or sofa clean is good value against the £110 minimum charge.

Moving out or letting a property in Twickenham

With so many rented flats and houses in TW1 and TW2, we are often asked to help when a tenancy ends. Our specialist part of the job is the carpets, sofas, mattresses and hard floors, because they are the first thing a landlord or inventory clerk notices. Our team can also take on a deep clean of the rest of the property, from kitchens and bathrooms to skirting boards and the areas behind furniture, and ovens are cleaned and included.

Every property is different, so there is no set price for end of tenancy cleaning. We visit first, then give you a clear quote. We will do a careful, thorough job, but no honest cleaner can promise your deposit back: that depends on your tenancy agreement and your landlord or agent. If you only need the carpets cleaned, our standard prices apply.

Where we work around Twickenham

Our base is in Oxshott, a short run down through Kingston, and we regularly clean in Twickenham, St Margarets to the north, Whitton to the west and Strawberry Hill to the south west, along with Isleworth across the borough boundary. Hampton, Feltham and Hounslow are within reach too, and we take work there when the diary allows.

We are often booked up ahead, so it is worth getting in touch early, particularly if you are working to a moving date. Call John on 07584 551 784, message us on WhatsApp or request a call-back. Tell us what needs cleaning and roughly how many rooms, and we will give you a clear price before anything is booked.

Why Twickenham books us

Cleaning that goes deeper than the surface

Dirt lifted, not pushed around

Agitating the solution into the pile before extraction breaks the bond between dirt and fibre, so it rinses out rather than staying behind.

Heat that sanitises

Hot water extraction at 120°C kills dust mites and bacteria, which matters in homes with young children and pets.

Safe on wool and delicate fabrics

We are Woolsafe approved, with a Woolsafe Registered Inspector, and adjust the method to suit each carpet, rug and fabric.

A result you will love

We guarantee you will love the results. If you are not 100 per cent satisfied, we come back and re-clean.

FAQs

Carpet cleaning in Twickenham: common questions

What does carpet cleaning cost in Twickenham?

Any room (bedroom, lounge or dining room) is £45, and stairs and landing are £45. A 2-bed house with stairs and landing is £170 and a 3-bed house is £215. Rugs start from £50 depending on size. Every job has a minimum charge of £110, which covers bringing and setting up the equipment.

Which parts of Twickenham do you cover?

All of TW1 and TW2, including St Margarets, Strawberry Hill and Whitton, plus nearby Isleworth and Teddington. We also take work in Hampton, Feltham and Hounslow when the diary allows. We are based in Oxshott and also cover Richmond and Kingston.

How often should I have my carpets professionally cleaned?

Most homes are fine with a professional clean every 6 to 12 months. Stairs, hallways and homes with pets or young children usually need it more often, as grit wears the fibres long before a carpet looks dirty.

Do you offer carpet protection?

Yes. After cleaning we can apply a soil protector or Scotchgard, which helps carpets and upholstery repel spills and slows down resoiling. For a sofa it is roughly £70 to £80, depending on size.

Can you clean a large corner sofa?

Yes. We clean sofas of every size, with all cushions done front and back plus the whole base. Two-seaters are £110, three-seaters £130 and four-seaters £140. Armchairs are £45. For a big corner unit, send us a photo and we will confirm the price.

Is upholstery cleaning safe for delicate furniture?

Yes. We check the fabric first and choose the safest method for it, using a gentler, lower moisture clean on velvet and other delicate fabrics. We will tell you before we start if a stain is unlikely to come out completely.

Do you do end of tenancy cleaning in Twickenham?

Yes. We clean carpets, sofas, mattresses and hard floors, and our team can deep clean the rest of the property, ovens included. We visit first and then give you a quote, as there is no set price.

How do I book?
